  • Xylophone query

The xylophone alternating tremolos (Xyl_2er_trem) seem very slow - 16ths at tempo 87. How exactly are these to be used?

Are these intended for the alternation tool?

    Regards - Colin

  • No, you don't need a tool.
This stuff is thought for intervall tremolos.
You have to play two (or more) keys with a little pause in between (half the time of the played speed - and hold on the keys of course.
One of the midiexamples shows how it works, but it's really simple.

    best wishes

  • Thanks Herb. I had thought of that, but the timing still seems too slow for me.
Maybe I'll make a "groove control" version to be able to play these at faster speeds.

  • Just don't know, how to make a groove control version with this stuff.
But I have a different idea. Simply transpose the exs instrument with the 2er-trem, half tone - maybe a whole tone step.
Sorry, that I'm not so exs experienced, this should be possible as far as I know?
The formant shifting for an instrument like a xylo should be not so problematic. Also make a vice versa transposing on your miditrack, so you get the right keys again.

Maybe our exs team could check this solution also.

  • Sorry, I must be tired. [:O]ops:

I'd normally use ReCycle and end up with lots of neat little segments, which are controlled by a chromatic midi file, but of course that would be useless for a pitched instrument like the xylophone.

Maybe using the segments with your forthcoming alternation tool? I don't know how that works yet.....
