    Hi
    Some Information about my demos.
    - Danza Violin
    - Nice Meeting
    - Mozart Rondo
    There are also downloads
    (Midi-Files, Screenshots and other documents)

I hope they can clear up a bit more the using of this phantastic tool. I liked all the internal connections.
No thinking about "How to root it through the Performance Tool" / Which Legato I need (slow or fast)" / ...
The recognition of your playing speed works wonderful with the Vienna Instrument.
So it is no problem for it to play from a legato like "daradaradara" into a
    trill by increasing "dara's" tempo.

Above all my demos shall show new articulations.
For example: The first part of Danza Violin is mainly played with the new
Marcato - Legato. Therefore it sounds perhaps too "harsh". So the demos
will not show always the best musical solution.
Below you have the possibilty to download a PDF with all the articulations I used...

Here is a PDF-document with all the used samples for every piece:
    PDF Used Samples

As you can see I’ve used quite a lot of different samples.
This needs to oranize the samples very well.
Further on: If you use so much different sample - types like I did it is nearly
impossible to change between all of them while you are playing the melody.
See the picture with the main Keyswitches by clicking...
Vienna Instrument: Loaded Samples for the Demos (*.gif)

So I organized to change between the different samples and parameters
by Keyswitches (Key on Keybord). By the way: You are able to use
    pitchwheel or midi controllers too.
It was very important to write down my settings... to keep track of all the
    different keyswitches.

  • Thanks a bunch Beat. Can you comment on:

    - Amount of PC's used
    - Ram and CPU usage
    - Amount of instances

and lastly just out of couriosity - how did you route it through GigaPulse - thanks

    Hi Christian

1 PC (the Danza Danza playback already existed before > so I
didn't use HALion for the orchestra's sound).

The Ram-Usage never was a problem. When I loaded all the
Patches and Matrixes it used first 1.4GB of Ram. But even for the
jazzy "Nice Meeting" which included the most different samples I finally
    used only 195MB Ram-Space (Using the Ram-Save-Function).
I believe that you will get some information about stress tests from VSL soon.
So far: If you play with one Instrument some voices then it is no more CPU
stress measurable (with Cubase's CPU measuring isntrument.

It was no problem to open lots of instruments but I only had the Solo Violin.
So it diden't made any sense to use it. But once more: I believe that VSL
will puplish some information about this question soon.

I created 3 depths in group channels - each with a VST Gigalpulse...
Perhaps this is not the answer you like [;)] isn't it?

  • Hi Beat,

Great info thanks. Can you comment on how RAMSAVE works in Cubase - I guess that the current patch is saved with all its ramsave information so when you load the project in it does not load all the samples, just the ones you have used....

    Cheers

  • Hi Beat--

Can I hire you to organize and color code my life? [:)]

Question about VST gigapulse-- does it come with more/better convolution impulses than the ones included with the Gigastudio version of Gigapulse?

    Best,
    Jay

    Hi Jay
...unfortunately not! Is it true that Tascam would like to expand
    the library?

    Hi Tim
The answer should give one of Herb's crew.
I didn't use this function very often (with the single Solo Violin).

    All the best

  • I've tested several times Ram optimisation with up to 24 Vienna Instruments instances in Steinbergs VStack, all instances heavily loaded and then using the RAM optimisation on each instance.
After closing and restarting the application each instance loaded exactly the optimised amount of samples.
