    Snare from Opus has a annoying ringing tone,
    who becomes even more annoying with reverb.

    What do you do to solve the problem?

    Can the snare samples be exchanged, with a kind of guarantee?

    Yes tried EQ. The ring of the batter head is just too wide in frequency to get rid of. The resonant head “Snare Side” sounds fine. OK, a snare can sound like that, but it better doesn't for general purpose.

    Are the snare samples in the other packets different ones ?

    Have both Opus.

    Notch out the ringing with an EQ, then compress the sample to add depth and punch.
    You will find that the snare will be much fuller with less "ping".
    This technique will also work on a real snare.

    Seriously, you could gate it if you want, but the ringing is part of the sound.

    Eq it or use WAVES C4 by compressing down the frequencies you do not like!
    That's everydays studio work... get used to it! [[:|]] [[;)]]

    well i found it what annoys me:

    i thought the samples in the lower octave are the left hand samples, and the upper octave the right hand, that way i programed the whole ouverture for the ballet, now i heard the upper samples are just damped versions and the lower ones.

    Five samples are simply not enough for repetition, in a nine stroke roll from hand to hand with 20 hits in a second, you would hear five unique sounding samples only where 20 are required.

    Anyway, it would be good to have samples without the batter head ringing, as we use for tight percussive work. It would be too bad if i had to use other snare samples, who where recorded in another room. A Ludwig Super Sensitive 12", 13" piccolo and a 14", or a Radio King snare would do on the medium snared drum sizes.

    Well i saw the new Percussion set available soon. Then i may make a demo for here of the piece "IONISATION" 1934, by Edgar Varèse.

    I wonder what Emil Richards, Joe Porcaro, Richie Lepore, (or Victor Feldman who died), would say if i ask them to record their arsenal of percussion instruments for library. Richie has a seven timpani set. You should have a look at the catalog of instruments available they give to us composers....

    Richie Lepore was my first drum/mallets teacher!

    But I heard that he had died. Is that not true?

    By the way, Emil Richards did sample a lot of his stuff. When the Emulator III came out, he got out some white tape and put a third I on his Emulator II. [:)]

    i don't now if Richie passed away, haven't been in Los Angeles recently, i will ask someone who should know...
