    Post your youth works, your earlier/earlierst works here (or start a new thread)! All your sins and tries on the path to get where you are now.

    I'll start with my first completed composed work. It's simply called T16 (it was the 16th track I made). I wrote it in 2002. Most of my earliest works sound awful, not only because I didn't even had a decent sound card, but also because I hardly knew what I was doing.

    I'm really interested if your thoughts on this piece match my own. Come on: slash it or praise it! Be harsh, be civil. Whatever critique, I asked for it!

    My own opinion is that theme is quite nice. A love theme which is very sad. Also there's some nice short moments where the counterpoint really does add to the whole.

    Okay here's one from me. It's not my earliest cos that's on a CD somehwere that I can't be arsed digging out just yet, and it really is crap,

    So, check out this theme that I did for these guys. Did this way back in 1999. It's started out as a hero theme but when I got involved with the Deep Angel crew I changed it to makke it more .. 'underwater like'.

    I did a whole score to go with moments from the script and was down to write music for their computer game version aswell. Yes my name is Scott Taylor, ... also I am known as Jhon T. Kristensen, ... but Hetoreyn fits me best I think. (Long story!)

    So, here you go, go look at the Deep Angel theme

    It's called 'Angelus', the other theme is a love theme.

    This is a great idea for a thread. But I think we need to revise it - you must post your earliest (available) and your latest. That way we can see if any progress has been made. Or perhaps retrogression? Probably in my case. I will go downstairs and search in the catacombs as soon as possible.

    I like the non-threatening tone of this thread. Just might coax me to post some of my old original works. Of course I could go back to the dark ages of synths before the days of velocity sensitivity-- ah my lovely analog Roland Jupiter 6 (1983)!

    I just listened to an oldie of mine - IT IS BAD! I am not posting it. It's just too lousy. People should not hear this stuff. I know I'm contradicting myself, but I realized I am not into public humiliation.

    I'm not familiar with Deep Angel, but this music (kinda new age-y) is a nice introduction.

    I'm very fond of synthesizers, and there are some nice sounds in here.
    The Angelus piece is much more fun, for its marching like rhythm and bold sounds. I think it IS a pity that this sounds too artificial, instead of just 'real' or completely synthesized.

    Your 'GettingRidOfDarkness' piece actually sounds more like pop-song-arrangement. I think it is playful, maybe a little too stretched out.
    The sounds are no good, but the composition still holds!

    Second thought: it doesn't sound as much as a pop-song, but more like it came from one of those library music CDs from the late 80s/ early 90s, where almost everything had to sound upbeat and was performed with cheap MIDI.

    This is one of those things I never finished, altough it is one of the few which actually sounds ok.
    I think the melody is quite nice, and could be used someday in a longer work.
    The piece does display one of the few problems that keeps sneaking in in my 'notated' compositions: a certain constant pulse which can become quite boring. Luckily I'm becoming aware of that.

    Come on William! Don't be ashamed! If this piece didn't make you feel any better, I might just post one of the most hideous things you've ever heard... just to lure you in the game... [[;)]]

    I don't mind. My Deep Angel stuff was done a while ago. And the intention at the time was to at least try to sound realistic. It doesn't bother me that it's artificial cos .. it all is! And until I get stuf performed by a real orchestra .. or the VI .. it's likely to remain that way [:P]

    I may yet try to redo my Angelus (The actual Deep Angel theme) with the VSL, and do a better job. Jst have to see what happens.
