It seems that the forums are getting flooded with narcissistic babies that whine about what they feel is entitled to them and are clogging the forums with childish entitlement oriented rants. If you ever have run your own business, you may know the tortures of risk taking and pricing a product. If VI is priced too high I am sure the marketplace will determine its correct price. Name calling and making references to “price scams” etc. are annoying and even insulting. Remember Beethoven didn’t need a sampler – (didn’t even need his ears in the end). So show some gratitude to those that are willing to go the extra mile to create something with integrity. If it’s out of your price range- so be it. There are plenty of decent tools out there to get the job done. I, as a half a pro edition user have no complaints. In fact I am upgrading pro complete to get into the VI early. If you feel “ripped off “ or “scammed “get over it and grow up.

enough of the infantile rants already!

so you're telling us all to put up and shut up ..
no can do ..
no way !
there IS something not right going on here that effects all us full price library and horizon owners.... will not shut up about it till the upgrade price is sorted
surely you can see it
All of us? Rubbish; there are other view points apart from your own......... The "upgrade" price is sorted, you just don't like it.

i'll growl it out ..
grrr [:D]
I'm sorry to go on, but I didn't say that I like it. I would like to be able to get all the SC for nothing, including Extended content, but that ain't gonna happen [:D]
However, I do think that considering all the amount of work that has gone into making this new product, the huge amount of extra content and the explanations from Herb about the pricing (where else would the owner of a business come on-line and explain his business practices), the prices are fair.

mike, i'm not a native speaker. althogh i can agree with your arguments above the post sounds a little bit *harsh* to me at the end (also another statement you made in another thread).
complaining about prices can be found everywhere, so why not here too?
in the end it's everybodys individual decision which route to go or not.
fitch, i just can reiterate what i've already posted before:
the symphonic cube was expected to cost around 10.000, to have twice the size of the pro and that users with registered products get a discount according to the stuff they have already purchased.
in case of the pro edition about 70% of the original full price (not taking into account any horizons or formerly price reductions)
so you get all samples you have already licensed again now in 24 bit and totally re-edited and remapped with a fine player for about 30% of the original pro edition price - this is IMO compatible to our definition of VIP pricing

Clare, while I very much respect your points, I think you are seeing things that don't exist really. I completely understand your stance on this, but the sad truth of the matter is - financially, these things are aimed at a very specific market and unfortunately the price has to reflect the balance of man hours and staffing, along with the target user number of potential buyers. That's my take on it FWIW.

I wouldn't care: according to the Natural Environment Research Council, the Gulf Stream is slowing down, and within ten years the average winter temperatures in Great Britain and Northern Europe will drop about 4 degrees centigrades.
In Italy we are ready to assist thousands of frozen refugees. We could even rent to them half an hour per week of VI usage (but only if they ask in a polite manner).

Mike Harper, I think parts of your post are.. Just pathetic.
Sorry I really do. But fun to read though.
Goodness..
People around here are big enough to post their opinions without having anyone daftly patronizing them don't you think? Keep some of that for your kids maybe !!!
You feel you need some attention do you?
Well OK you got a little.
I've seen quite a few posts like yours pop around. And those who write them clearly don't seem to accept that others have their own agenda, which is pretty legitimate.
Self centered people like you obviously have some difficulty in accepting the simple fact that "No, the world doesn't naturally offer you what you want."
This forum is made for expression.
If some people say things you don't like, tell them you don't like what they're saying & tell them why.
If you really insist on making such generalized & simplistic frustrated statements as those I read in your post, you're bound to come across as a real fart. Much funnier though than the so-called 'whiners' who nevertheless have a better reason than you, I think, to make some noize here.
God I don't know why I'm writing all this.
O yeah I remember... Because I find it very amusing that you're the one that's calling others 'narcissistic babies'. When this is exactly what your post is full of. This is really the cherry on the cake.
Truly wonderful, Mike !!!

I have Opus 1 and Solo Strings, both of which I love. What am I missing and what would I be saving if I upgraded to whatever it takes to have the best VSL library? Suggestions would be very much appreciated, Thx, OJ [[[;)]]]
its hard to say the calculator is the best bet. [[[;)]]] for 1st editionees and pros user it works out ok( perhaps) . but i am not sure how horizon users square off on all of this.
maybe a "horizon" version would be good! a 1000 dollar 16bit lite version
of most instruments.!!
