  • Maybe this is a workable solution for my type of case

we had quite some discussions about upgrading to "just" the Standard VI.
I'm one of those who don't want/need the Extended Version of my Chamber Strings.
I would be willing to pay $150 for Chamber Strings VI and give you back my old DVDs and my old license. I'm ready loose my 30 Euros VIP upgrade option to the corresponding with this step.

This type of deal could also be distributed thru a dealer, no additional cash flow between dealer, distributor and VSL necessary.

  • Tele,

I have Chamber also, but from what I could tell you would actually be 'losing' a fair few articulations by just going Standard.

    Colin

  • from what I understood so far (taken from VSL staff posts), the amount of samples in the Complete VI edition is about twice the amount of the Standard VI edition and the Standdard Edition contains about the same number of samples as the Chamber Strings Horizon.
That not articulations, that's number of samples.
There's gonna be some new content and there's gonna be a loss of some I had before, that's fine with me. There's gonna be enough for my purpose, which is pop music, I don't need all the fancy options like con sordino.
Well, sure there's always be use, also from a creative aspect. But I just don't really need it.

Well maybe you can do something original for the pop world which can make your music stand out. Then you'll be thanking VSL for making you broaden your horizons, and not write the same old rubbish [:D]

Are you seriously telling me that I'm writing old rubbish? Not very polite.

No................I was trying to be humorous. I have never heard any of your music, and I don't even know who you are, so I would be in no position to pass comment . The last time I even made a remark about a composer's music I got mauled for "dissing", so I wouldn't be so crass.

However, there is always room for new sounds, particularly in pop music, where one can get locked in to the familiar all too easily (which is probably what I was trying to say earlier).

Agreed, there's always room for new sounds. That's one of the reasons I like Sonic Synth2 - tons of synth patches, not all of them to my taste, but a rich choice of sounds that I could use.
