what is your point? You have said absolutely nothing with many, many words. Say something meaningful. That is a simple, direct challenge for you. Say something that means something about music, samples, etc. Don't waffle, don't bullshit, just say something that has something which linguists call DENOTATION. Or SENTIENCE. Well, there you go and I wouldn't disagree. Nothing wrong with the instrument or the samples and I understand you loving it. My main point was that VSL responds to it's customers when there's even a percieved problem or even just an earnest request. The fact that there was no French Oboe which many are used to was the issue - not the quality of the samples etc.

I don't know if I'm about to go off-topic, but my point of view is that VSL guys came out with a product clearly conceived to replace, at least in most cases, a real orchestra.
I watched again the Universal Mode video: Synful is too limited for a comparison. For now, apart from VSL there are no other digital orchestras playable in real-time.
Honestly speaking, it doesn't seem an insignificant innovation...

Guy - I just don't think it's necessary to keep going over old ground - over and over and over and over again.
And btw - I've seen many posts from people who say they want to post an MP3 example of this or that sound or piece of music. 99% of the time it's usually OK at best - but generally a disappointment at worst. MP3 examples don't prove anything with regard to what's been posted on this thread.

I got sent a piece from a friend of mine in France - oh - about 4 weeks or so ago. Real orchestra recording.
Believe me, this was some serious sounding music. Honestly, MP3's of sampled material AFAIC - CAN impress me insomuch as the programming. I've heard just about every John Williams clone going since sample libraries were invented for instance. John Williams impresses me - but JW soundalikes don't. Their programming does - but that's another thing altogether.
You will now, because you are top 1% - seriously need to come out with something extra special now old chap. If it comes out sounding like HZ - I may put out a contract on you.
