  • About the VIP upgrading, I have a solution here...

As I read the posts about the VIP Pricing, I am really very sad about this.
VSL is the most successful product I've ever seen. Although I have registered for years without saying much, but the forum and the people in VSL are very impressive. Such a good company should not be disloyal. They just have to give in to the business. They've never made us disappoint, and now for a hatful "thanks" I think I should use my little wisdom to help the VSL. I don't want the VSL loss the users who made them grow stronger. Just like some people said, if this is not considered correctly, may the VSL will lose in the market.

I've read the post herb posted and considered the main problem why the VSL HAVE TO choose such a way of VIP upgrading path. And after some thinking, I give my solution to the VIP Program here.

The SC is divided into 10 collections, so the people who recently bought the VSL GIGA products can buy the collections they don't have, from the retailers or order from the website.
And what VSL should do is to make a proving system of the recent-buying, not only for the company or individual, but also for the retailers of the VSL. VSL sell the products to the retailer with full price. And when the people who already have bought the past VSL versions want to buy the VI from the retailer, first thing they should do is to login to the VSL and got a special "recent-bought-proof". The proof got an unique ID and have a date to be expired. After got the proof, VSL's database will log it on the database. And for the user, he can print this out or just remember the unique ID. When he go to buy the VI, he can show the proof. And before buy, the retailer can use an online computer to login to VSL and check if the ID is logged on. And doing this will show the retailer what products should be given freely (or charged for a small fee) to the customer, and how much VSL will pay back to the retailer. The retailer can make a copy for the proof. And after shopping, retailer can make the proof "expired", but not deleted in VSL's database. When the retailer settles with VSL, VSL can pay back the money (or as discount from the newly bought product). And this is how the problem of the retailer can be solved.
As for online ordering, this is not a problem. After the discount calculator is complete, everyone can order the VI for his VIP price.

    To sum up:
1.VSL already have the database to record the products people have bought.
2.VSL is to make a “recent-buying-prove” system, not only online, but also offline. People bought the product can make a proof of bought from the website. And the server in VSL record this action
3.The retailers buy products from VSL with full price. And when people who have bought the VSL go to the retailers to buy VI, the retailers can accept the proof if the online identification of the proof is correct.
4.The retailers then can give the product to the customer (And the website will tell what products the retailer can give).
5.The retailers make the proof expired, but not deleted.
6.When the retailers settle with VSL, the database will show how many products the retailer give and how much VSL should pay back.
    7.The problem solved.

    The problems:
I think this method need a personal identification system. I mean, if a user’s password is stolen, this could be a very bad thing to the retailer and the company. So I think VSL should need a real person identification system. I think this can be done by put the personal proof (ID of the person’s ID card or something like this) to the user’s online information and make this unchangeable (To change you’ll need to show the Serial number of products you bought. And after the registering, the serial number is not visible to the user when got online).

    This is all.

I do this is not for anything. I think I fall in love with the company. VSL, you and your team make my dream of personal orchestra come true. I have the dream for 10 years and it’s you who make it true. I love music, and the music I made is for the person I love. Without you, may I be a different person on a different career. So thank you all!

But if herb thought this is meaningful and decide to give me some prize I will not reject. (Better if I can got my own VI because I am too poor to buy it) [[:)]]

    Sorry for my poor English.
And I will reply if anyone can’t understand it (especially herb [[:)]])

  • YWT,

    You are from China!?!?
Your engish is amazing - no need to apologize!!

I doubt there is any English speaking forum member who's Mandarin is anywhere near as good as your english!

    Cheers to you!

  • [:'(]
It seems that no one can understand what I said.......
    My poor english.......
I will correct it until others can understand....

  • hey YWT, i think someone of VSL will understand and take care of your post, but please consider the time zones [:)]

i don't think that someone will answer your posts here at 7 am in the morning and at 11 am they still have other stuff to do. i could imagine that they start to answer and check the forum around in the afternoon or so.

but i would just a little bit more patience. 5 hours is not much, so don't be sad!

  • I´m sure you understand that we are reading all of your posts and we do hear you.

But it simply is impossible to react to every idea, as there are quite a few out there. We have to breath and get all the things done that everybody is asking for, because we don´t want to let you wait much longer.

But believe me, every post is read carefully.

Thanks for your patience, I know it must be hard.

  • Hi Paul,

Thanks to you and everyone for listening - I've decided to wait and see what happens with the calculator before posting any more - as I think most everyone else has done too.

We leave all our hopes in your careful hands....

    Regards

    Tim

  • Thanks.
And I really hope that the problem can be solved.....
I have learned to use VSL for about 3 years, as a university student whose studies have little to do with music and even computer. I learned just because I loved music, and I really don't want to see VSL lose the people who have supported it in the past. I don't want to see a wonder of digital orchestration becomes an absolute "product"......
I think you have created VSL as an art, not a product. And I believe it is this faith which make the whole VSL team much different from the other library companies in the market.

    Best wishes to you all.

    YWT

  • Hi Paul. I know how much my VSL has meant to me over the past 2 and 1/2 years. It's a huge emotional investment as well as a financial one. I want to say thank you to VSL for creating such a wonderful library. I remain hopeful that their attention to the many dissapointed users over this upgrade will come to a positive conclusion.

  • YWT, the idea is basically not so bad and we have/had similar considerations already. some points:
    - to repay discounts to dealers will not work. only a few dealers will agree to such a system and generally VSL only sells (physical products) via distributers. to which dealers to which conditions they deliver to their dealers is up to them. any money flow could also happen via distributors in the other direction - this is not practicable.
    - there will be an option for *authorized dealers* (such approved by the respective distributor) to sell full libraries to new users (again, payment takes it's path via distributors)
    - possibly dealers can also sell extended libs after checking the users status online

several steps in the chain are still missing to get even this running like agreements dealers-distributors-VSL, the respective pages for queries, even simply a complete list of authorized dealers with confirmed status by the distributor.

the great picture has already been drawn, it just has to be framed [;)]
