  • Midi Learn v Native Automation

I use Stylus RMX a fair bit and find it's automation (mainly the editing and drawing) rather primitive compared with the Native Logic instruments and although "midi learn" works in a fashion it is certainly a backward step from just move the control and Logic records and edits it to sample accuracy.

With the EXS you can access a fair number of automation elements right from the arrange window Envelopes, tuning, modulation, volume, etc, etc.

I saw the dreaded words "midi learn" on the VI info - I hope we'll be able to access the most common function directly from the mix environment without being slowed up by the midi learn functions which I have to say does seem rather "yesterdays technology"

  • I would have to agree. I do so hope that all of the knobs and sliders are available through automation parameters without the need for using the 'Midi Learn' feature. I find it cumbersome too. Most sequencers worth their salt can access VST parameters without the need for midi learn.

  • Hi guys, I actually thought the main focus of the "midi learn" was for external controllers, and ok whilst things like the mackie command are excellent for controlling VSTs for adjusting the VI parameters most of them seem to be driven from your external k/b - e.g Mod wheel, pitch bend etc.

I've not seen anything on the externalised VSTi parameters for VI? Perhaps someone from VSL can let us know if there are any?
