  • Demo performance tool problem

    Hi,

I have had the Demo CD for a while, but until today I had not tried the performance tool, mainly because I didn't want to 'risk' my installation of GS/midi drivers putting something in between [:D]. I was following the instructions in the manual, but I found something that prevent me from getting it to work.

    The manuals says:
    "
MIDI_OutPort: This determines to which port the Legato Tool is routed. Here, you have to select ?NemeSys MidiOut: Port 1"
    "

I don't have "NemeSys MidiOut: Port 1" in my list of possible outputs. Only my 8 midi outs from my steinberg midex8.

Do you have any idea why I don't see "NemeSys MidiOut: Port 1"?

    Thanks a lot in advance...

  • Hi!

The Performance Tool you find on the Demo Cube and on the Demo CD works ONLY with GigaStudio. It remaps your MIDI-Information and passes the corresponding keyswitches on to GigaStudio (which is NemeSys MidiOut: Port 1).

If you work with GigaStudio, we´ll find out why you don´t see "NemeSys MidiOut: Port 1" on your list of possible outputs of the Performance Tool.

    All the best, Paul

  • Paul,

Yes, this is Gigastudio 160. No idea why the nemesys midiouts do not show in the demo...

    Thanks,
    -Jose

  • Hi Jose!

Just checking: You installed the Performance Tool on your GS-computer? Is it a dedicated GS-machine? If not, which virtual drivers do you use?

  • Yep, it is a dedicated giga machine. it has no virtual drivers on it. It is a very simple machine with nothing but giga, all the optimizations described on musicXP.net, and midi-ox. An OS partition, a Sample partition... and the drivers for the midi interface. That's it. the machine has gigaStudio 160 2.52 I think.

I don't think it really matters, but the machine is normaly run through remote desktop.

  • well, then I don´t really get it...

delete the Performance Tool (it´s just a small .exe, won´t ever do any harm) and reinstall it. Sounds stupid, but sometimes it works....

I wish you luck, and I hope this doesn´t cause nightmares (I will be thinking about it!)

  • hi urlwolf,
if i got you right, you're *feeding* GS via a midi-interface (connected to a keyboard or via physical midi-cable to a sequencer)
the performance-tool has now to be hung in between a midiport (of the interface) and a nemesisport (midi-in for the respective port in GS has to be disabled)
mabe a trivial comment: the performance-tool has to be run on the same computer where GS is running
the fact you are running this machine *headless* (e.g. via remote desktop) has no influence on the midi-/application-related settings
