  • No sound when loading the Percussion library

    Hello!

The context is important for this question: I have no problem getting everything working with the (VSL) string library, the woodwind library or the brass, nor with any other library as Orchestral Tools or EastWest - but only with the VSL Percussion: No sound whatever I do, using the Synchron player or Ensemble or Ensemble Pro. I have 1) Checked iLook 2) Turned up all volums and cc:s (7, 11, ..) in all available places (the mix tab, the perform tab, channels...) 3) Checked that the samples are loaded (white keys, RAM increased, correct paths). Again: Everything works perfectly fine with all other libraries, just not with Percussion!
I can I solve this (I need to use it rather urgently actually)? Thanks in advance.

    D.

  • Can be a lot a things despite the fact you already checked a lot. Here some possibilities:

Have you tried it in the SY Player stand alone? If it does not work there but other SY libraries do you may try reinstalling SY Percussion in the Vienna Assistant? Also check if all is in order in iLok with respect to the activation. Normally you do not see the library presets in the SY player when the activation is not recognized but there might be cases you still see it in the play presets.

  • Thanks for the prompt answer. I tried to run the percussion in the stand alone SY Player as you suggested, but unfortunately it did not work (tested other vsl library which worked) - no sound. I noticed also that the "meters" does not respond either (when trying to play the percussion). Everything else looks normal as far as I can see in the synchron player. I checked iLook again, and as far as I can see, everything regarding the percussion is the same as the other vsl libreries ("License Status Active" etc). I aslo run vsl directly manager and added all paths that was not yet there, tested again, but without change - no sound. I reinstalled the timpanies part of the percussion library and tested, but it didn't help.

  • So it really dees not seem to be installed correct. I suggest opening the Vienna Assistant and reinstall all packages. There are a lot of packages if you have the full SY Percussion I-III. Just go to installed, choose a package like Synchron Timpani I and press the three dots and reinstall. It takes some time as Timpani I is already 27.2 GB but that might be the issue.

  • Thanks for the help. I uninstalled all percussion in order to reinstall all of it, but after I reinstalled the timany, it actually turned out to be the Synchron Player that didn't work: It simply crashed when I clicked on the wrench icon and had the timpani loaded (it didn't crash when I had the string loaded). So I re-installed Synchron and the timpani works now. However, as said, before I discovered this, I uninstalled all the percussion in order to reinstall all packages, so now I have to download all percussion and install again. Maybe in future there will be an install- check-functionality, assuring that the install worked.
