    I've been a dedicated user of the original VI sample libraries, and am now (very belatedly!) looking into upgrading to Synchron. I notice that the Studio series has solo strings, but the Synchron solo has only violin and cello. I'm exclusively a Sibelius user, and do very little fine-tune MIDI work beyond that present through the Sibelius House Styles. I have three questions.

    1. Will I notice a substantial difference between my legacy VI solo instruments (leveraging VI Pro) and the Studio solo strings (leveraging the Synchron player) out of the box, without modifying my Sibelius scores much?
    2. For my use, how much difference will I notice between the Studio solo strings and the newer Synchron solos?
    3. Are a second solo violin, solo viola, and solo bass in the works? Should I wait?

    Hi,

    1. There are some new patches in Studio Solo Strings, like Legato (looped), but the sound quality is the same as VI Solo Strings. The samples were re-edited but not re-mastered.
    2. IMO, the sound quality of Synchron Solo Cello and Synchron Solo Violin is amazing. So you will notice the difference with your VI Solo Strings.
    3. Yes, Herb announced that Synchron Solo Viola and Synchron Solo Violin 2 will be released in 2025. So, if I were you, I would definitely wait for the release of these two new libraries and get the whole Synchron Solo Strings bundle. There is no info about Synchron Solo Bass but I guess it will be released in 2026.
