    After a while of usage, in a DAW (Cakewalk) and in the standalone player (Vienna Synchron Player) the RAM usage drops. '

    I currently have the preload size to be 16384 samples and am using all the Mics in the Mix settings. This will push the VST to use around 13GB of RAM (I have 32GB total in my system). After a while of use, both idle AND actively playing / using it, the RAM usage shown in Task Manager drops significantly to only around 5GB, after another while this will drop further.

    The reported RAM usage in the Synchron player still shows as 13GB.

    When this happens, playing any more than a few notes at a time will cause cracking and popping as I'm assuming it cannot load the samples fast enough from storage. Why does Windows do this?
