  • MIR 360: Room EQ change back to default

Insert MIR 360 in a track.

After adjust the ROOM EQ and save.

Turn OFF to check the original track without the MIR 360.

Turn back ON, the ROOM EQ is reset back to default. However the saved ROOM EQ curve is still display.

Have to re-adjust the ROOM EQ again.

    Is this a bug?

Yes, I've noticed that bug too. There have been some updates over the past few years but it's never been fixed. I had this problem using MIR Pro 3D with different DAWs like Cubase, Studio One or VE Pro. The only DAW I haven't had this problem with is Logic Pro, so that's what I use.

  • This is a constant source of confusion, I know. Many users mistake the RoomEQ as some kind of "bus insert", but it isn't. Please see the respective section in the manual to understand the concept:

    Important

The RoomEQ is organized as a “bank” of settings. This means that an instrument is assigned to one of the 32 “memory slots”, not to an individual setting.

By default, a RoomEQ slot number is assigned together with an Instrument Profile. If you have an instrument that is not listed, you can assign one of the factory presets, or create your own by clicking on the “e” button next to the EQ preset name and selecting a free slot. Here you can also load and save RoomEQ presets and preset banks (.mireq and .mireqbank files).

I covered the topic in several older forum threads, too.

  • PS - I assume you meant MIR 3D by writing MIR 360, didn't you? Although that would be a nice name, too. 8-)

  • Hi,

MIR Pro 3D (noted). Here are my steps.

    1. Insert MIR Pro 3D
    2. Select Instrument
    3. Load Room EQ Into the Room EQ group (Verified displayed in OUTPUT section)
    4. Listen before Export-Render is fine
    5. Rendering the Mixdown
    6. Listen the mix again (NOT THE RENDER FILE). Room EQ revert back to default - NO EQ applied. Noted: the OUTPUT section displayed the setting of the load EQ curve.
    7. Listen to the Export-Render file. The setting values of the ROOM EQ is NOT rendered. It render the default values (no ROOM EQ)
    8. BTW, I have only 1 instrument in this venue.

my DAW is Studio One 6.

    Urgent please.

Where do you load that setting from?

.... I think you're still misunderstanding the concept: There are 32 (or actually 33) "slots" for RoomEQ settings. You assign the "slot" in the Instrument Panel. The RoomEQ display Output Panel will always show to the settings for the chosen instrument, i.e. MIR Icon. You can also switch to display other settings in theOutput Panel, but this WILL NOT (and can't) assign another "slot" to the chosen instrument.

Still I will ask VSL support's Studio One-expert to look into this, to make sure that there isn't a host-specific bug I don't see here.

  • Hi,

I loaded the saved preset from Bank slot.

    Here are my process.

    1. During Mix: Add a 2nd venue for 1 instrument (Vocal).
    2. Select a profile. In my case Tenor Vocal.
    3. After adjust the ROOM EQ to fit, I saved the setting into the bank folder (name #xxx). and also saved its in the regular ROOM EQ preset folder (same name).
    4. After save the song, I restart my DAW (next day)
    5. Select my venue and instrument.
    6. Noted: The ROOM EQ Group window displaced the correctly (as I saved the song). And the OUTPUT display same.
    7. Play the song, the ROOM EQ is not engage.
    8. I select a frequency in the five band EQ (any frequency) and toggle OFF and then ON. Then the ROOM EQ engage
    9. Export the MIXDOWN.
    10. The sat ROOM EQ did not Render

What is the correct WORK FLOW?

    Many thanks,

  • Does this help ... ?

    Hi,

    I found this workaround:

    1. Save your Venue preset in the Preset Manager.
    2. Click on the "Reset" icon.
    3. Load your Venue preset again.
    4. The ROOM EQ settings should engage.

    Best,
    David
