  • Using a midi keyboard into a networked server pc running vsl pro.

    Hi

I wonder if anyone could help?

I'm in the middle if a large project and I'm really noticing latency as I add new parts.

My main pc is windows 11 pro running Cubase 14 pro.

The server pc is running Windows 11 pro and hosting VSL pro and VSL SE instruments.

They are connected over the network and all is running fine.

I have my main Arturia MKii 88 key controller on my desk.

I also have a small midi Arturia MiniLab keyboard controller.

I'd like to use the MiniLab keyboard plugged in direct via USB to the Server pc.

My thinking being that I could then play direct into the VSL instruments hosted on the server pc and cut out the latency while I find the parts I want to play.

Ive tried multiple approaches and several Google searches but have had no luck at all.

Ive installed Arturia midi and software control apps on the server pc and they are all fine. Windows on the server pc recognises the Minilab and has the drivers. There is no selectable option in any of the options in VSL pro to add a controller. There is a window in options for controllers but it's not populated and there is no way to populate it with my or any other controllers.

Is this because the server pc is networked and set up to run VSL pro as a networked server? Can it not now "see" controllers?

I don't mind if I can't record from the mini lab, I can replay it on the 88 note to record it, I just want to play the sounds direct from the vsl pro server pc so I can find voicings, drum parts etc without the latency delay.

Playback is fine and compensated for.

It's mainly the percussion I'm struggling with, the hits from the server pc are way too late to get a feel for what works or what doesn't while playing via the 88 key controller.
