I took the plunge and booted up Dorico this weekend.
I'm finishing a piano quartet in Finale....but plan on a violin sonata in Dorico. Two instruments--simple scoring so I can focus on the
platform ...oh, and music...
Direct loaded onto platform (no need for VE7....). Loaded expression maps.
Synchron Steinway sounds great, and synchron solo violin was doing everything---fp, sf, hairpins....."out of the box".
So far so good. I've got several a dozens of hours getting used to the notation program layout, playback engine functions, etc... but definitely doable. Love the full range of expressions in Dorico vs. cobbling together a performance with keyswitch dump, or going without more advanced dynamics/articulations...
I'm excited about the potential for Dorico. I know the developers are going to focus a great deal on the notation/playback end for several iterations, tyring to keep Finale users (gotta be hundreds of thousands coming over...?).
