  • Studio Dimension Strings Mono/Poly legato mode

Apologies in advance if there is RTFM response heading my way, but I'm still finding my way after upgrading from VI Series/VI Pro to Studio/Synchron Player. Overall I'm very happy so far, but the Dimension Strings legato mode setting has me puzzled, as no matter which legato mode I choose I'm still seem to be in poly mode.

In the VI Series/VI Pro there is a legato mode and an Interval mode, and the Interval mode is the one that disables the poly capability in Dimension Strings and forces single note playability. In the new Synchron Player world however, despite the legato mono mode working fine for other libraries, I can't find a way to switch into mono mode for Dimension Strings (i.e. mono is still poly). Or do I have my wires crossed somewhere?

Thanks as always for any guidance!

  • Hello Arbee!

The Studio Dimension Strings presets are saved with Legato Mode set to "Mono". This means that legato articulations are monophonic. This works as expected here. Could it be that you have triggered a non-legato patch? Non-legato patches are always polyphonic. In addition to the global Legato Mode setting on the Perform tab, it is possible to make this setting individually for every slot on the Edit tab.

If you trigger a legato patch and it is still polyphonic after you have set it to mono, please let me know the exact patch name. You can see the patch name on the EDIT tab at the upper left after you have selected a patch.

    Best regards,
    Andi

  • Thanks Andi, much appreciated. I always had my Interval Mode set to Mono in VI Pro by default, and didn't realise this is now patch dependent in Synchron Player (which makes perfect sense of course when I think about it).
