  • Setup conundrum

I've got a slight issue. I'm aware the deadline for the switching off of the e-licenser server is looming, and am not sure what to do. My system has four machines, two on Win10, and two still on Win7 - those last two almost certainly won't actually run Win10 or 11.

I've never moved from my e-licenser versions of everything because, as I understand it, the first iLok-authorised build of VEPro required at least Win10 - and, since all machines must be using the same version of VEPro, I can only run the version that my Win7 machines will run. Ditto my instruments - I have most of the original symphonic cube and some other bits and bobs, spread across the four machines, all of it still e-licenser.

It's becoming clear that I'm only ever going to be a hobbyist musician, so I'm not looking to throw much more into machines. On the other hand I would like to maintain any future-proofing that I can. I'm thinking I've only got two options:

    1. Keep my system as it is. On the day the e-licenser server turns off I lose the ability to surrender those licenses, and will essentially just be running what I've got until the day it dies.
    2. Move everything onto the two newer machines now, and upgrade everything to iLok. But that renders the two Win7 machines useless today, rather than when they eventually do die.
    3. Any magical solution anyone else can see that I can't. For instance if anyone knows that there is a version of VEPro - hiding in the previous builds - that used iLok and didn't refuse to install on Win7.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can continue to use what I've got?
