  • How to keep instance from loading automatically

This is probably a simple question, but I've searched and haven't found an answer.

When VEP 7 is open, a particular instance opens whenever I instantiate the VEP plugin in my DAW.

    Steps:

    1. Open VEP 7
    2. Open my DAW
    3. Insert VEP 7 VST plugin in a track
    4. Instance "x" always loads into VEP7

I'm sure I did something that is causing this, but I haven't been able to figure out how to get it to stop.

I suspect it has something to do with "preserving" instances, but it's not clear how to stop this behavior.

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

  • In case it's helpful, I'm using Reaper under Windows 11 Pro.

    More details:

After putting the VEP 7 plugin into my DAW, if I click on Connect and choose New, it loads yet another copy of instance "x". If I repeat, a third copy of the same instance appears, etc.

  • Did you try to disconnect them from your daw and save the session in your daw? CLick on preserve button and this will make the VEP keep the samples loaded when you trun off the daw.

The couple and decouple function I find very confusing, even after learning it... VEP needs an update for these essential bulk actions assap, principally “connect all disconnected instances"

  • Yes, I have tried both disconnecting and "de-preserving" the instance (the plug and lock icons) and saving the project in my DAW.

If I then open a new DAW project and instantiate VEP7 (VST plugin), the same thing happens. The instance loads.

Maybe I should have mentioned that it is always the same instance, that is, the same instruments load with the same title in the blue tab.

  • Thanks for the suggestion @vesp. I'm still having this issue. I guess I'll contact technical support.

    oh yeah pls do it

they need to keep developing VEP ...

  • OK, I found the answer.

Reaper lets you save customized presets of any VST plugin.

Sometime, somehow, I seem to have created a custom preset of the VEP7 VST which must have included the instance that has been appearing every time.

I looked for it in my Resources folder with Reaper, and sure enough, there it was. I re-named it and the problem disappeared.

Gratulaitons! this is how i use VEP: from DAW to VEP, not the other way around. This way i just care about saving in the Logic Pro.

But i am annoyed with the window and view settings while composing, it does not save as I want for default
