My apologies, in advance for this long post!
I’m experiencing intense popping and clicks on the latest version of VEPro7 when connecting my MacPro 2019 (OS 12.7) to my Windows 10 sample server PC.
This occurs using Logic Pro or Pro Tools 2024.10.
Pro Tools and Logic audio buffers: 512
VEPro buffers: default (2 buffers)
The Mac and PC are connected directly (no switch) via Gigabit ethernet via CAT 6 cable
I've had a couple of network technicians / engineers test my system. Based on their tests, there's no issues with the network between my MacPro and PC on VEPro 7.
Further testing on both computer's CPU and SSDs (speed and throughput tests) have not shown any problems either.
All tests show no issues.
Here's where it get's interesting...
All my newly created VEPro 7 projects, (MacPro to PC server) have intense occurrences of pops and clicks (using either Logic Pro and Pro Tools sessions...with any VIs)
But...If I open one particular VEPro7 project from several months ago...This particular Pro Tools session (with identical track and VI count) has no pops and clicks!
All other, newly created sessions from the same template, have intense popping and clicking.
How can I figure out what makes this one session work without issues? There is no obvious difference between this older session and my newly created sessions.
