  • VEPRO hangs loading previously fine working template after updates/upgrades

    Recently I have upgraded/updated:

    OS to Sonoma
    VEPRO
    VIPROII
    NI latest upgrade

Before all these updates/upgrades all was fine, I could load my "big" orchestral template without any issue.

However, after all those updates/upgrades, the VEPRO (I have 4 instances in it) hangs while loading a particular Kontakt multi in the 3rd instance, and I have to Force Quit it.

Now, funnily enough I can load that 3rd instance in a new empty VEPRO project without any issue.
I can load that particular Kontakt multi in Kontakt standalone/Cubase.

  • Solved.

    Sonoma does not support Kontakt6.

I rebuilt my template with Kontakt7 in, now VEPRO loads my template without any issue.

  • Weird, I was experiencing the same thing, and other weird behavior with Kontakt 7, and VSL support told me Kontakt 7 was causing the crashes. So I switched over to only using Kontakt 6 (VST3) across my server project. It's loading without crashing now.

Note, at least one user determined that having Kontak 7 instances set to Omni MIDI channel was causing issues here, so perhaps avoid doing this if you can: https://forum.vsl.co.at/topic/62134/solved-kontakt-issues-in-vep/1

    Interesting.
VSL was pointing to Kontakt 6 as a culprit, as it is not supported under Sonoma.

    Now:
In my big VEPRO template I have 4 instances:

Note: in the instances next to Kontakt 7 I have VIPro, OPUS,…

    Instance 1:

Kontatk 7 - the Multi has 10 different patches, MIDI channels are 1-10

    Instance 2:

Kontakt 7 - the Multi has 20 different patches in it, MIDI channels are 1-13

Kontakt 7 - the Multi has 20 different patches in it, MIDI channels are 1-13

Kontakt 7 - the Multi has 2 different patches in it, MIDI channels are 1-2

    Instance 3:

Kontakt 7 - the Multi has 1 patch, MIDI is set to Omni

Kontakt 7 - the Multi has 1 patch, MIDI is set to Omni

Kontakt 7 - the Multi has 9 patches, MIDI channels are set 1-9

Kontakt 7 - the Multi has 5 patches, MIDI channels are set 1-3

Kontakt 7 - the Multi has 3 patches, MIDI channels are set for all these 3 patches to Omni

Kontakt 7 - the Multi has 7 patches, the MIDI channels are set to 1-7

    Kontakt 7 - 1 patch,MIDI is set to 1

Kontakt 7 - the Multu has 3 patches, the MIDI channels are 1-3

    Instance 4:

I have 10 Kontakt 7s in it, several of the with many patches, many are with set MIDI channels, some with OMNI.

At mu place this template loads fine.
The "OMNI" does not seam to be problematic...
