As the holiday season is approaching, let me first and foremost extend my best wishes to the VSL team and the entire community!
If I may, I would like to suggest a modification/addition to VEP that, in my humble opinion, would be absolutely priceless. I honestly have no idea how difficult it would be to implement, but seeing how all other elements are already there, I thought it might be feasible.
Every DAW has its own set of proprietary instruments, effects, and loops, many of which are quite unique. As of today, two different DAWs can simultaneously connect to different instances of the same VEP Server project, but to my knowledge, there's no way of binding them together into a single "real project", so to speak. It would be amazing if audio could be sent from a track in, let's say, Logic Pro on a Mac into VEP Server and routed to another instance connected to Cakewalk on a Windows PC. Better yet, two different DAWs could connect to the same instance in VEP Server. For example, there could be a Vienna AUX Out plugin for the source DAW and a Vienna AUX In plugin for the destination DAW, connecting to the same channel in VEP, so that the audio could be processed with either VEP's native or third-party FX before reaching the destination track. This would truly allow VEP to fulfill its ultimate goal of erasing the boundaries between different platforms. With the Audio Input plugin already implemented, looks like what I'm suggesting could be the next logical step.
I'd love to know if any other fellow producers/composers in the community and VSL developers/product managers think this would be a game-changing feature and a great benefit to VEP users. Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated!
