  • Help With Older Libraries

    Hi Everyone,

I haven't been using any VSL stuff for a few years now so I'm super rusty. Too busy teaching college music theory I guess! I got a new Mac Studio last summer and basically nothing works for VSL. I have a lot of stuff, but most of everything is at least 7 or so years old. I have the full woodwinds library purchased back in 2016 and a bunch of other individual instruments.

Nothing from VSL shows up in Cubase. VEP Pro shows in Logic, but doesn't work - it crashes. VEP 7 Pro says I don't have a valid license but I do. I'm pretty sure I have iLock v.2 and my licenses are on the iLock cloud (27 of them.)

Is my stuff just too old to still work? I've been thinking about getting the Prime Edition, but I want other stuff to work first if possible.

I'm not really sure of where to start at this point.

    Thanks for any help.

  • Hi! Have you reinstalled everything from within the Vienna Assistant, so the new content/samples and player are compatible with iLok? The old installers and files from eLicenser times will not work with iLok. Make sure to not use the Legacy downloads from MyVSL but the Vienna Assistant!

Thanks for the reply. Wow! Everything has changed so I was completely lost. I'm glad you said not to download legacy files because I was about to do that.

I installed Vienna Assistant and got VEP Pro 7 and Vienna Instruments Pro updated. They now show in Cubase.

I have all of my VSL libraries on an external SSD. I'm guessing I can delete those. In the Assistant, I couldn't figure out how to install the updated libraries on that same external disk.

    Thanks much Ben,

    Aaron

  • I got it all sorted out now. Whew!! Thank you again for the help.
