Re-Color and Re-Name Bug in MIR Pro 3D / VEP
-
I admit that this might seem confusing at the first glance, but in fact I think that's the way it was intended by VSL's developers. The idea was to integrate VE Pro and MIR 3D as closely as possible.
However, I will make them aware of the issue. Maybe an additional Preference in VE Pro is all it needs to keep the names and colours totally separated.
Thanks for reporting!
Kind regards,

In no universe does a user want to see a solo cello re-titled "Instrument 63."
In no universe is that a feature. (I'm further certain it's a bug because the renaming happens irregularly.)
As for color, if VSL wants uniformity, then changing a channel's color in VEP when it contains a MIR inline assignment should immediately change the color of that same icon in MIR Pro 3D.
It doesn't.
Instead, the user now has a VEP mixer channel its own color, the MIR Pro icon retains its previous color, and a VEP channel disable/enable fetches the MIR color and imposes it on the VEP channel.
If the user attempts to re-color from VEP from that point on, the Apple color palette may stop appearing.
I've found ways around all this color silliness. As for the naming issue, Dietz, for the love of Herb, tell the developers. I sent tech support a movie demonstrating it.
Okay, I must return to my Instrument 63 Concerto, Opus 2.

So there is a MIR preference. I've turned it off, and hopefully the color frustration will pass. Not completely, as this only blocks the data transfer _to_ MIR, not _from_ MIR to VE Pro.
The solution will be to add yet another, VEP Pro-specific preference to MIR 3D.
