  • Is it possible to resell/refund etc. libraries?

    Hello!

I bought VSL Special Editions Vol. 1, 1+, Vol. 2 and 2+ in 2017 and 2018. Because of several reasons (time, health issues etc.), I did not use them as I did not make any music over the last couple of years.

Now I upgraded to Synchron-ized special editions...but also saw that the Synchron player is really good and has a better flow than the old player. I already bought Synchron Strings Pro and I'm thinking of buying Synchron Brass and Synchron Woodwinds.

As these samples are better than the old special editions, I don't have any need for them. I spend a lot of money on them, but buying the latest libraries makes them obsolete...and I never used them.

Is there any option to unlink them from my iLok account and sell or refund them?

I understand that reselling or returning digital products is impossible most of the time or difficult, but I still would like to ask.

  • Thank you!

  • Be aware that if you used any crossgrade discounts from items you sell the discount amount will be deducted. So if the price you paid for any other product reflected discounts for owning Special Edition libraries, you will be "charged back" (as it were) for the discount.

I had to learn that lesson the hard way. It's a fair policy by VSL once I understood it, otherwise people would buy discount-qualifying products, use the discount to help purchase something else, and then sell the discount-qualifying items.

Synchron - Woods, Brass, Perc I, Str Pro, Elite Str, Duality Str & Sordino, Prime Studio - Woods, Perc, Solo Str, Ch Str, Orch Str, App Str, Harps, Choir Studio Dim - Brass, Strings VE Pro, MIR Pro 3D, Vienna Suite Pro Cubase 14, Studio One 6, Dorico 5
  • Support says you can only refund it after 14 days. Moreover, I bought it in a different library store and not directly from VSL.

  • Within 14 days, not after.

  • Yes, I meant "only refund it after a maximum of 14 days".

Is this only done as an exception or a common "demo" version you can test? One of the problems VST libraries have is that they cost a lot, but only few have demo versions...YouTube videos always look and sound great, but very often people buy something they thought they would like, but then they don't like it that much...but they spent a lot of money on it.

An official demo version of every library would be great.

  • Hi @LeanderAT! While product returns are easy and hassle-free for users, they still mean some cost and workload on our end. We offer this policy because we want people to be confident and happy about their purchases, but it should not be seen as a "demo and return everything" offer.

But to answer your question: No, it's not an exception - it's our policy. If you like what you hear and see, you can buy in our webshop without fear of being stuck with it should it not be the right product for you, after all.

  • Can I add if you are interested in a particular library contact VSL. I have had 3(?) demos that as far as I remember weren’t being advertised at the time.
