  • VIENNA CRASH

Hi I have vienna ensemble pro latest version updated. I use cubase 7 version 13.0.40. I made a template 15 days ago. Vienna keeps crashing for a week. I contacted support to whom I sent the support files. They told me that maybe it comes from kontakt 7 vst3. They suggested I remove kontakt vst3 during a test. I removed it. Vienna opens without crashing and quickly since there is no more kontakt 7 vst 3 or all my libraries are installed in all my instances. All my instaces are made with kontakts 7 vst3. I don't know what to do anymore. I can't recreate all my instances that took me 15 days to organize and load everything with kontakt 7 vst3. When I replace kontakts 7 vst3 with kontakt 7 AU, I have no instruments. Do I have to start from 0? This is a scandal. Every time I load vienna, it loads and has 99 percent "Vienna ensemble pro unexpectedly qui". What is the solution?

  • I've had VE Pro 7 for years. I've never seen it function as advertised. I've had it on a dedicated computer, and now integrated in the same machine where my Cubase runs. It either crashes, or the latency is insane, or I hear crackles in the audio, or the GUI is pathetically unresponsive.

I even hired an LA music tech pro to give me tips. I followed the tips. No difference.

I have a Mac Studio M1 Ultra with 128 GB of ram.

Maybe I need to build a server farm like Amazon or Open AI... 🙂

It's sad because I really love the concept of VE Pro and I would like to use it every day. I just have not found a way to set it up that is actually functional.

    Good luck!

I don't have a mac studio but an old mac pro from 2010 with 128 gigabytes and a dual processor 2 x 3.46 Ghz Xeon 6 core (12 cores in total). Cubase is installed on a mac mini i from 2018 with an i7 and 64 gigabytes of ram. I also like the concept of vienna but for a week it keeps crashing. I don't even know if it's because of cubase or vienna. Sometimes when I launch vienna alone without cubase, it crashes too. I'm so disappointed. Especially the time it took me to make my instances. And now everything is ruined. You who also have a Mac studio, it shouldn't have any errors, it's weird. I hope it will work out for you too. I hope someone can tell me what I should do to fix this problem. If it's kontakt 7 vst 3 that's causing the problem, how do I replace kontakt 7 with kontakt 6 or 8 without having to start all over again from scratch?

I've experienced a few problems with VE Pro 7 and suspect they are related to Kontakt but can't say I've used it extensively enough to know exactly where they lie.

What I would try in your case is saving patches/snapshots/multis inside of Kontakt 7 vst3 (in the NI format). Then replace those within your instances with Kontakt 7 au and load the patches/snapshots/multis you saved.

  • Yes, VEP7.3.3610 is a pain to deal with! constantly crashing. I am looking for new ways to run my system to eliminate all these crashes. It frustrates me to no end and makes me not even want to work on music. My system is a HP 820z with 128 GB Ram Intel Xeon CPU E5-2680 @ s.70 GHz s processors 16 cores Windows 10 Pro 22H2 OS Build 19045.4894, VEP 7.3.3610 DAW: Nuendo 13 with a RME Fireface UFX III audio interface USB3. One of the biggest problems is that when I go to increase the RME Madiface buffers to 256 from 128 (where I usually record with low latency) VEP 7 crashes. Interrupting the whole production process. Suggestion? Is it time to kick VEP to the curb or ???
