  • assigning VSL instruments to a Dorico project

I have successfully navigated beginner Dorico. And loaded the VSL pro so that it is accessible in Dorico. I have learned to select patch and add effects to the matrix squares in the center of the window. But, as a Finale casualty, I do not know how to , say, create a woodwind quintet, and simply load VSL instruments into the project just as I did in finale with Garritan and aria player. I think I am to add the instruments from the Patch window on the right to the Matrix window on the left, but have looked through a dozen video tutorials to no avail. There must be a quick easy answer.

For Dorico you need Dorico Expression Maps for the libraries. VSL doesn't make these for the Vienna Instruments (VI) libraries, which are being discontinued - only for the Synchron-ized (the direct replacement for the VI libraries) and the Synchron libraries.

You can purchase Dorico Expression maps for the VI libraries from Symphonic Riot.
