Channels become randomly unusable

After some time with my template, one kontakt channel became completely stuck, not outputting any sound. I tried to re-add the kontakt instrument:

The volume meter just hangs, channel isn't usable.

Then trying to exit the program:

It just hangs forever.
Is there something to do or it's just part of the game, and VEP tends to become unresponsive once in a while?
