  • VSuite EQ tweaks not loaded in Nuendo

    Hi,

I'm working with Nuendo 12 and recently switched from Mac to PC.

When i load a Nuendo project created on the Mac on the PC, the VSuite plugins are correctly loaded but the tweaks i did are not loaded.

to my knowledge there is no translation process when a PC loads a Mac Nuendo created project.

I literally use a VS EQ on EVERY track in all my orchestral projects, so now all my projects are ruined.

Is there a solution for this?

    Thanks,

    Geert.

  • Hi Geert,

we are talking Vienna Suite (non-Pro) here, do we?

I just created a test project in Nuendo 12 on the Mac with Vienna Suite Master EQ as VST 3 plug in, and it opens without any issues under Windows, showing the same settings. Did you use the VST 2 variant (*_x64)?

    Kind regards,

  • PS: I just installed VST 2 again on the PC, too, and there are no issues either.

  • PPS: Maybe it's worth noting that there is no direct translation of VST3 to VST2 or vice versa.

    Hi Dietz,

Thank you for your quick response.

These projects are indeed using the old EQ, The only difference i can see in the mixer screen is that now 64 is added to the name.

Before it was just VSL EQ. I installed both 32 and 64 2 and 3 versions bit but Nuendo directs the 32 to the Blacklist.

Maybe i should install an old legacy version of the non-pro plugins.

    What do you think?

    Cheers,

    Geert.

  • Newer versions of Nuendo don't support 32-bit plug-ins at all. You would have to install an older version of this DAW first (pre v11, IIRC).

  • Hi Dietz,

Somehow Nuendo chooses "VSL Equalizer x64.dll" while in the plugin list "VSL Equalizer.dll" is also available.

So i thought lets disable "VSL Equalizer x64.dll" but now Nuendo cannot find "VSL Equalizer.dll"

this really makes my head spin.....

    Any advice?

Yes, see my previous mail. What is your version of Nuendo? Is it old enough for hosting legacy 32bit plug-ins (i.e. "VSL Equalizer.dll")?

    /Dietz - Vienna Symphonic Library
  • I looked into it and the latest version of Nuendo supporting 32bit is v8, so i installed it, but it doesn't open projects created with never versions of Nuendo. (mine is v12)

I deleted the VST3 versions to force the use of VST2 but the name remains VSL EQ x64

Then i uninstalled everything, and reinstalled everything, but no change.

If i can't solve this means that all my projects where i'm currently working on and all projects from the past are compromised. Sometimes i use 40 instances of VSL EQ in one project.

It's impossible to figure out what all the settings were.

    Can you think of anything?

Everything that says "x64" _is_ a VST2 plug-in. Every *.dll without it is VST2, too, but in 32bit.

I don't really understand the issue now, to be honest. When your projects were created with recent versions of Nuendo - where do the missing 32bit instances come from ...? 😕

  • Hi Dietz,

I'm not sure it is a 32bit problem. Here you see my VST list in Nuendo 12.

The VST2 plugin is the "VSL Equalizer x64" version and the VST3 is the "VSL Equalizer".

As i said the "VSL Equalizer" is not missing in the PC Nuendo, but on my Mac the "VSL Equalizer" was loaded and on the PC the "VSL Equalizer x64"

and somehow all the tweaks in the plugin instances are being ignored and they all load in their default state.

  • update:

When i disable the x64 version and i reload the project i get this:

So now instead of not being able to find the disabled x64 version it cannot find the "VSL Equalizer" version

and that is what is going wrong in my opinion

  • Please send an exemplary project to VSL support, ideally including screenshots of an original setting and the error messages when opening it under Windows. A short reference to this thread will help, too. We'll try to find out what's going on there. 😊

    Kind regards,
