  • I'm having a bit of issues with latency with synchron plugins and I'm wondering if this is normal and people adapt to it or if it is something that can be improved. I have a good computer that can handle high sample rate/low buffer size and on daws such as ableton I reach below 2ms of latency.

    With other VSTs like omnisphere the real time playback is almost instant and not at all a problem, but with any synchron VSTs like the organ, pianos or strings I get a very noticeable latency. This happens and is even worse on the standalone versions of synchron player, organ player, and piano player.

    I don't use an interface and I'm not sure other things than plugin latency would be the cause as other plugins have far less of an issue with this.

    What is the best way to get low latency for live playback? I would assume I am doing something wrong as I don't think this is a broad issues many are having.


  • Hi, our samples are delivered at a 44.1kHz sample rate. If you choose a higher sample rate, you will put additional strain on your system due to the need for unnecessary real-time sample conversations. We recommend sticking with 44.1 or 48.0 kHz. For the Standalone Player, please use the correct audio driver for your audio hardware. For Windows systems, that is an ASIO driver, as DirectSound and Windows Audio both introduce unwanted latency.     Thank you for your reply! I am using ASIO4ALL v2 which seems to be the recommended driver for users without interfaces or DAC without native ASIO drivers.

    In Ableton using a higher sample rate as high as 192000khz shows a reduced latency, I have a decent desktop setup that generally allows me to record solo plugins at this rate. I would assume this would be the same for the same for the standalone verions, though I don't know if this is the same for these versions, I am completely open to try any setup that would allow for lower playback latency.

    Is some latency expected compared to other more simple synth plugins? I am really not sure whether some latency is normal due to the nature of the samples or if I have things set up improperly.

    If you have onboard audio only, you should still not use ASIO4ALL. Instead, install the proper generic audio driver for your specific onboard audio chip - for example, a compatible Realtek driver or, even better, the one your mainboard manufacturer delivers.

    Please don't work with 192000 Hz (= 192 kHz). No sample developer delivers samples at that sample rate, and you do not gain any performance or audio quality advantages — only tons of unnecessary workload for your hardware.

    And yes: A simple synth can not be compared with a sampled instrument.
