  • VE PRO 7 Event Input misses out on MIDI note-off, causes note to hang

Does anyone know how to deal with this?

I have not used the Event Input plugin when working in Cubase, since you can address VEPro sever channels directly from a Cubase track. But now I work in Bitwig and must use the Event Input to target other VEPro server mixer channels other than the first channel. Way too often the note-off doesn't make it into VEPro server and the note hangs for an eternity. 😞 Is this a known problem?

I run everything locally on a powerful Ryzen 9 computer.

  • I seem to be having the same problem with VE Pro and the Event Input plugin within FL Studio.

Using the Event Input is the only way to get access to all the VST3 midi ports in FL Studio. However, when using the Event Input plugin, notes hang or sometimes they don't even get read properly.

Sorry to hear about that. Many people are puzzled by the Event Input, it seems. This bug was the tipping point for me over here and I'm now retiring my previous VE Pro Cubase pallet and migrating it all into Bitwig as inactivated local tracks all in the DAW, rather than hosted in VEPro. The better you get to know the sounds the less you need to preview stuff when arranging. The only downside I see is that Bitwig doesn't support expression maps as we have them in Cubase. Instead, I load empty Drum Machine devices into those tracks and name "drum pads" as their corresponding note number articulation in the sampler. When in the piano edit window I can switch over to Drum Edit Mode and these articulation names show up on the piano keys to the left. Not as nice as Cubase, but it works for me.
