  • Advice on VEP 7 with Logic 11

I'm considering getting Logic 11 for some film scoring ideas. Any observations, advice, words of wisdom etc. from VSL crew and community on using VEP with it greatly appreciated. I did see some surround issues but I don't use those anyway.

    Thanks

Well, my experience was I never used Logic because of the arcane ways Logic has held onto from ancient code where Aux channels have to be enabled in order to use anything multitimbral. (IE: In Cubase it's dead easy, just select the outputs shown in VST Rack)

It may not have been possible with "AU 2" to use more than the one port. A fuzzy memory I can't be 100% on but it seems like where I'll have bailed. I remember a bit later I tried to sort that for someone at VSL Forum but I gave up. This was after VSL had created the Event Input workaround.

Things have changed in the meantime. This person has it sussed I do believe:

  • Thanks for the reply. After discussing it with tech I gave up on Logic and got a demo for Cubase. I did buy a script for Studio One Scoring Tools (https://s1toolbox.com/scoringtools/) which looks like it fills in a lot of Cubase functionality. Thinking maybe I'll stick with S1 and save myself a bunch of time & $
