I’m having a lot of trouble lately with VEPro 7. After using it for a while and loading different sample libraries up, it starts to slow down to a crawl. Even though the audio still seems to playback correctly as long as the CPU meter is not hitting close to 100%, but the GUI of VEPro starts having tons of issues including long delays and freeze ups. Sometimes the meters continuously freeze up on screen, other times basic functions such as clicking solo/mute or switching plugins can have a delay of 5 - 10 seconds (it even effects Synchron Player load times). Needless to say it is very hard to work like this. I wrote a number times about them removing the fast plugin switching function from preferences, but still don’t understand why since it was one of my favorite functions in the app. Plugins should switch at the blink of an eye if your working on a deadline to get anything done.
I recently installed the latest Spitfire’s ARO plugin and it really has issues getting along with VEPro. It appears that any time you send articulation changes via keyswitches, the VEPro GUI freezes up. All meters freeze including delayed responses to any controls in VEPro. I tried playing back multiple midi tracks from Cubase sent to VEPro. Any tracks containing keyswitches immediately cause freeze ups in the VEPro interface. If you disable the articulation changes, the graphic interface plays back much smoother as it should. I've also been able to reproduce this using the Abbey Road One and BBC plugins. I've tried changing buffer sizes, core counts, etc. with no change. I also tried both VST2 and VST3 plugins, as well as multiple versions of VEPro 7 including trashing all preferences. Nothing seems to solve the issue. I also tried streaming the libraries from both internal SSD Sata drives as well as SSD NVME drives with no change.
I’m not sure if there are any solutions at the moment besides just not using VEPro all together. I know the app is starting to show it’s age, but it really needs to be streamlined to work better on today’s higher end computer systems. I included my specs below. Hopefully the app will be updated properly one day since it’s still the only one I’m aware of in it’s category. It’s not like DAW’s where there are practically too many to choose from.
