  • Cores and threads VEP Server macOS

What’s the best strategy if you want to use a lot of instances in VEPro?
What happens when the number of instances exceeds the number of CPU threads?
I have 32 threads (16 cores), so theoretically the max might be 16 instances if I assign 2 threads per instance?

Also, how do you monitor thread and CPU load and effiency on macOS (Ventura 13.6.7)?

Depending on the workload and your audio buffer settings, instances will start competing with "free" instances to complete their workload in time.

Each individual instance shows a % indicator. Keep it from maxing out (100%) is a good start.

  • Many thanks, Andreas!

Would you recommend trying more than 32 instances in my case (with 16 cores/32 threads)?
Can VEP juggle the threads in that case?
I’m trying to find out the most efficient way to distribute my instruments, and I’d really like to use many instances instead of a few, to be more modular in my approach than working with big templates.

Regarding CPU load - is there a way to monitor how many threads an instance is currently using?
