  • Synchron Player is not showing/reading User presets

Synchron Player is not showing/reading User presets either in the folder assigned in the settings or by dragging and dropping the presets into the plugin from the file explorer.

The preset files are in the .vsynpreset format

    Synchron Player v1.1.2063

    Reaper 7.16

    Windows 11

  • Also, when I try saving a test preset, its location in file explorer is different from the one I have selected in the settings for user presets. Something is amiss?

  • I just tried updating from the eLicenser version (1.1.2063) to the newest one (1.3.1263) and activated it on my iLok to see if that would effect anything, but the issue still remains: my user presets for Synchron Percussion are not being recognized by the Synchron Player.

It used to give an error message. Now with the new version it just doesn't say anything and fails to import. I made 48 presets for an orchestral template, I would like it if they worked...

  • Hi!

Please send us one of the presets via email to support@vsl.co.at and explain the situation at hand and what you did. We should be able to look into this, then.

    Best,
    Andreas

It seems that the "User Preset" location in the settings is only the first part of the preset folder. In my case I have this folder set as the presets path:

    "C:/Users/Michael/Documents"

But the preset files are not actually stored right in "Documents". It seems like whatever folder is selected, VSL doesn't store the presets right in there, but instead in a subfolder. It appends to the end (depending on what kind of preset):

    "/VSL/Vienna Synchron Player/Presets"

    or

    "/VSL/Vienna Synchron Player/Mixer Presets"

So even though I have "C:/Users/Michael/Documents" set, the actual path they need to be in is more like "C:/Users/Michael/Documents/VSL/Vienna Synchron Player/Presets". Presumably they do this because the default location is the user's "Documents" folder and they don't want to make a mess by sticking a bunch of loose preset files right in there.

So if I wanted to change the user preset location to something like:

    "E:/My VSL Stuff"

I think If I put presets right into the "My VSL Stuff" that it would not find it. Instead I would have to make a "VSL" folder inside that and a "Vienna Synchron Player" inside that, and two folders called "Presets" and "Mixer Presets" inside that and then put the preset files into one of those two folders (depending on what kind of preset it was), and then it should find them.

  • I have my Synchron Player User Presets stored in the folder setup you described, mducharme:

    VSL/Vienna Synchron Player/Presets

That folder structure is stored within a "DAW" subfolder in my Documents folder. That Documents folder is stored on a separate SSD dedicated to my OneDrive. I have everything in my DAW subfolder set up to automatically synch with my online OneDrive storage. I had to take some steps to make my OneDrive my Documents folder. There's no lack of programs that ignore this, but once Synchron Player is told where my VSL Custom Data folder is it hasn't failed to recognize my presets.

All this has worked fine for me for quite some time now.

  • The default location on Windows is:

    C > Users > [Your User Name] > Documents

(Can be changed in the player settings under Database > User Presets Folder)

When creating a preset, the player will create a file structure that looks like this:

    ... >VSL >Vienna Synchron Player > Presets

This is where you want to copy any custom user presets (or folder with user presets). If the file structure does not yet exist, make a single preset so that the player can create it for you.
