  • Synchron Percussion Maps?

    Hi Folks,

Wondering if Team VSL has any plans to release proper Dorico percussion & expression maps for the Synchron Percussion I-III ?
I'm looking for a Dorico percussion solution and would happily buy the bundle if there was Dorico support planned for the near future..

    Any hints?

    Cheers!

Though it would be even better if you could collaborate with the noteperformer team on mapping all the synchrons and synchronized.

VSL only working with NotePerformer is far from the best solution. NotePerformer at the moment can only use third party samples in cases where its internal sound library has a matching instrument or technique. So you would lose out on a lot of percussion instruments that NP does not natively support as there would be no way of using them, and probably some techniques as well. The only way to really get access to the full techniques and instrument list of the VSL percussion is to use it directly.

Thanks, I am aware of that. Of course many of the synchron percussion instruments haven't been mapped for Dorico by VSL either.

  • Hello,

The mapping for Bell Tree appears to be missing. I add a Bell Tree to my score and nothing loads. Synchron Percussion does have a Bell Tree. I'm thinking this might have been omitted accidentally.

  • Hello mducharme!

You are right. The bell tree of Synchron Percussion III slipped through. I have noted it for an update.

  • Hi Andi,

Where can I get or find the Synchron Percussion I Expression Map for Dorico, please?...I can't seem to locate the installer - Also the latest version of the Vienna Assistant: 1.1.427 doesn't seem to have the Dorico Wizard featured in this video:

    Thanks, Andy

  • Hello Andy!

All Dorico expression maps get installed with the Dorico Wizard. If Dorico Wizard doesn't appear on your computer, that means that Vienna Assistant didn't find Dorico 3.5 or higher on your system. If you have it installed please contact us at support@vsl.co.at and let us know what OS you are working on, which Dorico version you have installed exactly and where it is installed exactly.

    Best regards,
    Andi

  • Hi @andi

I bought just the Mallets III, but I can´t get access to the maps in the Dorico Wizard (greyed out).

Specifically, I am trying to get Temple Blocks to work, but can´t for the life of me figure it out, how to get the change of different beaters. I have loaded the Percussion Map for Syzd Temple Blocks, and have tried a simple Expression map to change the different beaters. I am not getting expected results. Am I indeed right in creating an expression map in addition to the supplied Percussion Map? There are noe changes for the different articulations in the percussion map, only natural, roll and tremolo.

    Thanks,

    Henrik

  • Hello Henrik!

For the "Synchron Mallets III" temple blocks the percussion map "VSL SY Percussion - Temple blocks" is required. The "SYzd" one will not work correctly. Anyway, I have seen that this map doesn't get installed correctly. We will fix that. By the way, it's not possible to change beaters with this map. You will need to insert the keyswitches for that manually with the Dorico function "Create MIDI Trigger Region".

    Best regards,
    Andi

  • Ok, looking forwards to the fix for Percussion maps.

Now, another issue popped up regarding Studio Solo Strings. I installed the map from the wizard, but it seems it´s not reflecting the "Full" library, only the "Basic" .. Any ideas?

  • The Studio Solo Strings full presets include lots of patches that make little sense with notation software. The basic presets make much more sense here.
