  • Synchron Percussion I - differences between patch types?

I have been searching the Synchron Percussion I manual as well as the walkthroughs released by VSL to find an answer to the following question:

What are the differences between the following three (3) patch types within Synchron Percussion I:

    Vel XF rolls - MOD

    VelXF - MOD

    Velocity

Can anyone kindly enlighten me as to the differences between these patch types?

    Thank you

  • I have viewed that video

It does not explain what "Vel XF rolls - MOD" means in the Synchron Percussion libraries

Hi, while the labeling is slightly different due to the nature of the percussion instruments, the general information in Fabio's video still applies.

You can either choose to control via

    03 - Velocity (Short + Longs)
    02 - Modulation (Short + Longs)
01 - A mix of both. Velocity (Short) & Modulation (Longs)

    (explained in inverted order)

I've always thought that "Vel XF rolls" for percussion takes the "Longs vs Shorts" distinction from non-percussion instruments and turns it into "Rolls vs Hits." Since a roll is an extended series of pre-recorded hits, you want the capability to change dynamics during their playback, whereas hits are by their very nature are one-time dynamic.

Thus the dynamics of rolls are controlled by Vel XF, while hits are by Velocity only.

Not sure I'm correct, but that's what I've made of it.
