  • Using Synchron FX Strings I in combination with Virtuoso might make up for some incredibly unique possibilities.

Absolutely true! But separate contrabasses, when needed, are still missing.

An example of how useful contrabass falls may be is in this incredible score by Jóhann Jóhansson. Here he processes contrabass falls with tape manipulation, for a sound that can't be recreated in any other way.

  • Hi,

    I fully agree with Paolo.

Until SDS virtuoso, double basses have always been part of the strings libraries with all articulations included.

As there is no information about this fact, I do not understand why the basses are excluded.

I would be very disapointed if this would be a way to sell another "super basses" package in the future...

    Hi,

I've just completed my full presets for Duality Strings. It's a really impressive set of techniques!

What I miss is something from the latest addition, Virtuoso. Contrabasses have been excluded, but there are things that would be absolutely great from that set. The things I miss:

    • Hard Staccato, for more aggressive short notes.

    • Ricochet, sounding booming on contrabasses.

    • Slow glissandos on the lower strings, for the ability of sounding like a descent to the abyss.

    • Fast glissandos on the higher string, for how acid, piercing it can be.

    • Rises and falls on the lower strings, for the sense of a subterranean world moving under your feet.

    • Crescendo and diminuendo on the lower strings, for that magnificent sense of continuity with the basement notes.

No need to get the full set or full range. Just the more idiomatic notes from the contrabass.

I agree - but patches for runs for cellos is also missing. Can't understand why these have not yet been included.
I hope VSL will do an update and add these without further cost implications

I have them, however. Maybe this is something missing from your download?

The exclusion of double basses was clearly stated on the product page on the day of my purchase, a few days after release. It still is.

  • Hi Minstrel,

I did not say VSL has hidden the exclusion of the Doublebasses patches. And I knew it when I purchased the library.

I just said that I have no information why, this time, the basses were excluded.

As basses are key elements of my projects, I am simply interested in knowing how or when those patches will be available.

Ok, sorry for the misunderstanding then. I would also be interested in some of the virtuoso articulations for the double basses, especially the slow glissandos and rises and falls. Here's for hoping that VSL will provide a free update with articulations for the double basses!
