    What is the sample rate of VSL Synchron series (Duality Strings, Elite Strings, Synchronized Solo strings)? Is there an ideal sample rate that I should set? My other recordings are generally sampled at 48 kHz.

    The samples are being delivered in 44.1kHz, but the player will automatically convert them to 48kHz in your case. You shouldn't notice a difference.

    I assume you mean "shouldn't" notice a difference.

    What about performance-wise - does working with VSL libraries at 44.1kHz improve performance at all since it doesn't have to convert?

    Yes, working with a different sample rate means the players must apply real-time sample conversation. It's neglectable but could be felt in a vast setup already pushed to absolute limits.
