  • VEP7 and Mac OS versions

Re: [Vienna Ensemble Pro 7 on Mac OS X 10.13.6](/topic/59807/vienna-ensemble-pro-7-on-mac-os-x-10-13-6)

My VEP server is a PowerMac 6,1 running Mac OS 12.6.3 (Monterey). I believe that's the most recent version of the Mac OS that will run on that machine (AFAIK).

Is there documentation or information anywhere that clearly shows which versions of Mac OS are required for different versions of VEP7? I'm currently running 7.3.3335 without difficulties, but I'm not sure whether there may be a later update that still supports Monterey.

OR . . . maybe Monterey is supported by the latest version? I get confused with the nomenclature between OS 10.14 and OS 14.

If the latest VEP7.3.3610 only requires OS 10.14 (Mojave, which is older than 12.6.3 Monterey), then I should be able to install it on my PowerMac--correct?

  • Hi,

The Vienna Assistant will only offer updates that are compatible with your macOS version.

    Best,

  • OK, thanks Andreas, that's good to know.

So then I take it that the latest version will run on Mac OS 12.6.3 Monterey. Is that correct?

  • Yes, macOS 12 (Monterey) is a fairly recent build and is supported. If you run into issues, you can always roll back to a previous build via right-click > Archive.
