  • VEP Pro Offline bounce through Wi-Fi (on separate connections)

    Hello,

    TLDR

    Bounce Offline Via WIFI

    1. Have DAW Project file on a networked drive like dropbox synced locally between my machine at home and my laptop
    2. Be able to open project either machine and edit as I please, and use VE Pro on my laptop to bounce offline straight to my disk. Whether thats just a stereo bounce or even stems.
    3. Rejoice in the ability to not have to wait till I get home from school to work on a project or force myself to use remote desktop software to login, bounce everything, and upload those files to a service like dropbox.

I normally use VE Pro Locally on my workstation, which is a rack PC i've put in my garage and ran cables. I'm in college and spend a lot of time at my school, and a lot of times use remote desktop software to access files or bounce things from my local machine to then upload it.

I know VE Pro over Wi-Fi isn't useable for low-latency workflow, however using a gaming streaming utility called Moonlight, I can remote desktop into my computer with extreme low latency and even play games at 4k 60fps, it looks and feels great even when I'm 50 miles away!

With this realization, I would love to see if its possible to use my daw locally on my laptop, but have it connect to VE Pro over wifi STRICTLY FOR OFFLINE BOUNCE. Even if it takes a little longer to bounce, I'd be okay with that. This would let me edit midi and prepare projects, even having my DAW project file (which is just midi items, no mixing done in the DAW besides Volume automation) in a networked folder that is synced between my two machines. So I could open and edit them whenever I want, and even offline bounce straight to the machine that I'm on.

I'm okay with not having playback or good playback from VE Pro in realtime, I would just love to be able to write the midi, or open a project that I've already worked on, and bounce it while I'm at school.

Longwinded explanation, but is this possible? If this is possible for video streaming + audio, surely it would be possibly for an offline bounce with just audio?

I am comfortable port forwarding my device if I need to do so.

Many thanks to those more knowledgeable than I!

  • Just a calm +1 to see if anyone has done this^

  • Hi Cody,

VE Pro does not allow connecting to a DAW outside a local network. This is a strict product design decision.

    Best,
