  • What are the Presets for ?

Numerous pieces that VSL kindly put up to demonstrate thier products have downloads available.

The 'Fanfare for thee Common man' has a MIDI file and folder of Presets, all the files within that folder are .fxp files [which my Mac wants to try and open with pianoteq - and of course fails]. What are they for? And how are they used?

I wasn't sure where on the forum to ask this so if the moderators want to move it please do so.

  • Hi rAC,

Some demos were made a long time ago, like the "Fanfare". So those .fxp files are for our first Vienna Instruments player.

We will have to clean up that section when there's a little time.

    Thanks for pointing that out!

    Best,
    Paul

  • @Paul,

    Thanks for that information.

  • Hi rAC,

I actually spoke too soon, thanks for the reminder. You can indeed open these older *.fxp files in your Vienna Instruments Pro, if you have the corresponding VI Collections available. Simply add the folder to your Presets Folder (see your Directory Manager for the location) and that will work. Still a bit of work to set that up, but it works.

    Paul,

I only have Synchron Instruments so I'm guessing that those files will be useless to me. But thanks again for the follow up information.

  • That's correct - those presets are not compatible with Synchron Player.
