  • Favorites Sources for MIDI and PDF Scores

I'm happy with my Dover collection, but I don't think I've really grasped what's out there on the net regarding pre-recorded MIDI scores and PDF (or other formats) for printed scores. Where does our VSL community turn for such thinga?

  • I have used the Classical Music Archives www.classicalarchives.com . There is a $25.00 /year fee to have full access to 1,000 files /month for 12 months. Well organized site.

  • I'm also a subscriber to classical archives. damn fine site. crap layout, awful design imo, but a tremendous anmount of work has gone into it.

  • Thanks to you both. I'm probably going to pursue a subscripton to the site. Indeed, I had been discouraged from the site because of its presentation, and I had assumed the Web might offer numerous outlets for such things. Now I'm guessing that the "Archives" are ahead of the pack in terms of volume of files (and hopefully quality). Thanks again.

  • a good site for free scores in pdf is www.free-scores.com.. have most things not in copyright there EXCEPT that which i'd like the most i.e.mozart's piano concertos [8o|]

    still, its a great service.

  • Yes, I also concur that it's an excellent site. Some of the MIDIs are a bit hit or miss, although they tend to put up multiple versions for the popular material. I have found that JE Taylor and G Pollen's renderings are very good indeed.

  • you might try the variations project at indiana u:
