  • VE Pro Sever doesn't show - have to connect by IP address

I have a three PC system - a master and two slave PC's. This had worked fine for years. I'm on 7.0.1120 and use Cubase 12. One of the slave PC's died and has had to be replaced. The VE Pro server instance on the new PC does not show up inside the Connect plugin on the master. It only shows the local instance and one old slave instance. I can connect to the new PC only by writing in the ip address and instance name of the new server, but even then the connection to the new pc does not show up in the list of available servers. This obviously prevents templates from loading properly.

    Any ideas anyone?

    Thanks.

  • I will bump this for you as I'm having the same problem. I have two machines connected by a dedicated connection. One is 10.1.1.1 (Cub ase) and the other is 10.1.1.2 (Vienna).

About 50% of the time, Cubase findss the remote server and makes the connections automatically. Otherwise I have to type it in because it doesn't show up int he Connect dialog.

The attached screenshow shows after I have manually made the connection for the first instance. Even after making the first connection, the others still can't seem to find the server. Unless you wait about 10 minutes, and then the server will magically appear.

As you can imagine, this is productivity killer having to do all of this manual connection every time. Is there any way to tickle the server or the clients to figure this out on their own?

    Thanks,

  • Same here. This is interesting because it was "fixed" in older versions already.

  • As already mentioned in another thread, I have the same issues. I have to type the server address manually, despite of this all racks keep the server address when I restart Cubase even when the servers are not visible. Since I have "only" two additional servers along with my PC, I can live with it, but it is quite annoying when configuring a new rack.

  • This happens for me as well with VEPro running on the same machine as Dorico.

  • Hello everybody,

    A few observations:

    • The OP @Redleaf seems to be working on our legacy VE Pro 7.0.1120 (eLicenser protected).
    • @jstaczek shows quite an unusual latency value: 10452 Samples

To find out what is going on, it will help tremendously if you could post your OSs and VE Pro versions, and also the VE Pro versions where you did NOT experience these troubles @DareonSky.

All these rare cases seem to be connected with the Bonjour Service, and we have not found the culprit yet...

For everyone running into the issue of the VE Pro plugin only showing an empty list:

What happens if you OPEN the VE Pro preferences (on the Server machine) and then close it again?

Do all available instances in the network appear again after a few seconds?

(Without the need to close & reload the whole template/project)

  • That works for me. Good workaround. Thank you.

  • @Andreas8420 unfortunately not, server is still not visible.

  • PS: I have two servers running in my local network (192.168.xxx.x) and one VEP local instance. Even the local instance is not visible. AFAIR when I firstly installed VEP all servers have been visible. Suddenly they disappeared.
