Wow! Very impressive, FaRu! The highly energetic Final Fantasy pieces are indeed behemoths in terms of orchestration, aren't they? What do you think about your track? What aspects of the track would you revisit - if you decided to spend more time on it?
I'd try to compare it to the original - probably the FF VII Remake version, as it's closest to an actual orchestra... To identify the red thread that goes through the piece. What instrument parts lead the listener from one bar to the next? Identifying what instruments overpower others while some of the leading parts drown in your mix - in terms of orchestral forces. 🙂 For example the stabbing tutti hits in the first minute of the piece. When could you push them a little bit back to give other instruments more presents and room in the mix? Questions of that sort could elevate the orchestration to the next level.
Best,
Andreas
Hey Andreas,
thank you very much.
Especially for the advice and the detailed answer. I think you identified very well, what I struggle with the most at the moment 🤣. I am also super clueless how to implement percussion properly 🫣
Maybe I will try to recreate a real orchestral version from distant worlds or 0220 2002 .
Getting these things right seems to be the biggest key element.
Cheers and have a nice day ✌️
