  • Dorico Expression Maps for Synchron Duality Strings Colors

    Hello!

The Dorico expression maps for Synchron Duality Strings have been updated for the usage with the Colors library. The latest VSL for Dorico Installer can be found in the Vienna Assistant under Additionals/Notation.

    Best regards,
    Andi

    Hi andi,

One issue that I am having with these new maps for Colors is that Dorico assumes that all sounds are mapped from pppp to ffff on the modwheel. Because flautando really has something more like "p" or "pp" as the absolute highest point on the modwheel, when using flautando and writing "p" in dorico, you really get more like pppp. You have to write ffff to get a sounding p dynamic with flautando.

Do you have any suggestions for what to do here besides jumping through hoops by writing a hidden ffff dynamic for flautando? I hate having to use workarounds like that.

  • Hello mducharme!

Piano is the normal dynamic for flautando. If you write ffff, you can make it louder, but it is still the same dynamic layer. If you want the flautando patches louder in general, you could do so on the EDIT tab of Synchron Player.
