  • Is VEP 7 server only running in Rosetta on Silicon?

Just updated to a Mac Studio and making sure everything is running as it should. VEP 7 is updated to the latest but it shows it's running in rosetta on my Mac Studio M2 Ultra. Isn't it suppose to run native?

  • Hi Sing4doe,

The Vienna Ensemble Pro Server app has dedicated Apple Silicon & Rosetta versions, that even can run side by side and both be connected to your DAW.

Curious if you had any success. I have the M2 Ultra w/ 192GB and 76 cores and I STILL cannot run the AS versions of Synchron or VEP 7. Immediate crackling as if I'm overloading the processor...except the status bar is at 15%. And the 24 cores are not maxed out either. This issue is DAW-independeant, too. Digital Performer 11, Cubase 13 and the latest Logic X do it.

But as soon as I revert back to the last Intel version of Synchron and VEP 7, the issue is gone. (Not a plug-in conflict either as I disabled every other plug-in other than from Vienna.) Customer support has been no help, alas.

  • Sorry, stepped away for Christmas for a few days.... I'm wondering if the fact that I built my template on an intel machine and now am on Silicon would impact what version Rosetta or Silicon is loading. I'm not running any older plugins in VEP. Everything is Silicon native so it's odd that it's running the rosetta version. If the problem is that the old template was built on an intel machine is there a way to convert it?

I've also noticed that VEP Pro AU3 is not loading in DP. Is that an Silicon thing? Should I remove that plugin. I'm getting error messages in DP whenever I load a project and DP has told me it's a plugin issue and connected to something that has failed to be loaded. VEP Pro AU3 is one of a couple of plugins that have failed.

    Appreciate any thoughts.

  • It appears many of the issues have been solved through an upgrade but VE Pro AU3 still won't load in DP and I get warnings whenever I load a project (it shows it is the latest universal version). That is the only plugin not loading out of all of my plugins in DP which I count as a miracle at this point. VE Pro is now running native in Silicon. Not sure I need VE Pro AU3 so if someone advises, I may just delete it to avoid the warnings in DP until whatever the issue is can be fixed.

  • why are you trying to use the AU3 version of VePro in DP? There is a MAS version that is much better to use inside DP
