    Hi all,

    This is the music video I created for the 7th and final movement of String Quartet No. 4-Stages of Grief, which is part of my new album, Lost In It: 4 Quartets for Virtual Strings. On its own, it is a simple/beautiful layered theme (I use a second string quartet), with spoken word in the middle. As part of the larger quartet, it provides a contrast to some of the more frenzied, aggressive movements from earlier. (Please forgive the click bait title for youtube. You know the game we all must play for our 10 views)

    All 4 string quartets were produced using VSL's solo strings. Quartets 1 and 2 are re-done versions from my early days with VSL (circa 2015-18). I'm so grateful for these virtual instruments, and continue to be amazed at how far they can be pushed in terms of their capabilities.

    It's a shame there hasn't been more response to this work -- particularly in view of the fact you've stated you're thinking of giving up composing. There are few enough chamber works being written nowadays which invoke a deep personal response and it does no harm that it's well written as well. I'm talking about the work as a whole -- although the last movement is perhaps the most immediately appealing, the voice-over I'm afraid doesn't do it any favours in my view and there's no need for the clickbait title (some of my chamber music is at least as emotional, I'd say) as it'll probably only attract the wrong kind of listener.
