  • [FIXED in v3499] - VEP 7 build 3440 can't find most of VSTs

    Hi,

The problem started when I noticed that VEP can't see Kontakt 6 which is a VST. So I went back to VEP7 and asked it to rescan all plugins. What happened after made my jaw drop: almost every VST and VST3 plugins disappeared. So I went back three builds to 3358 and began gradual reinstalling. The whole experiment went as follows:

    1. Installed afresh build 3358, did the full rescan. Everything was scanned, all passed except one most recent NI plugin,
    2. Updated to 3388, checked the previous list of Instruments, everything was there. Then did full recan, all was there, finally
    3. updated to 3440, checked the previous list of instruments, all was there. Then again did a full scand and... ALL VSTs and VST3s (except for 2 plugins) DISAPPEARED!!!

Plus, pluginscan has crashed several times. That definitely is a particular way of making an improvement. To continue work I will reinstall afresh 3388, do the scan, update to 3440 WITHOUT rescanning and wait for better times.

All that happens on Mac Pro 2020, macOS Venture up to date.

    Witold

Hi, i have the same problem no vst, only one, and no vst3 😞
I hope for a fix on macOS Ventura .. where i can get the 3388?

  • Hi,

    This shouldn't be the case.

    Please try this:

    1) In the Finder, choose Go > Go to Folder from the menu.
    2) Type ~/Library/Caches in the "Go to the folder" field.
    3) Press the Go button. Remove the "com.apple.audiounits.cache" file.
    4) Remove the ~/Library/Caches/AudioUnitCache folder.

If that still doesn't help, open your Activity Monitor and quite the process "audiocomponentregistrar".

That should do the trick. Please let me know!

  • Hi,

I also have the same problem: no more VST and VST3.
    I don't have any folder called "com.apple.audiounits.cache".

I did not do any update (7.3.3440 Version)

I tried reinstalling Vienna Ensemble Pro 7 and quite the process "audiocomponentregistrar" but did not solve it!

    Could I help me, please?

  • Hi fradear,

Best to contact support@vsl.co.at, with a short description of your setup (Hardware/Software), the support file you can generate in your Vienna Assistant and ideally some screenshots that show the locations you need to check.

    Best,
    Paul

  • Hi Paul,

I have several VEP servers. On one, a Mac Pro 2019 running Ventura 13.5.1, this is happening to me. Gradually plugins showing as uninstalled on my template over a few days, first Berlin Studio reverb, then Kontakt7, Omnisphere etc…

I tried reinstalling the plugins at first, thinking there must be an error with them. No change.

I have since done your fix suggestion several times: no difference.

I have reinstalled VEP, restarted, etc… a dozen times, No difference. Cubase sees the plugins with no issues. I've sent Marnix details

  • As Marnix suggested, rolling back to 3388 has fixed the problem here.

A rollback to v3388 + "Reset & Rescan All" (plugins), to be precise

  • Same scan problems here and no vst3. Back to v3388, and everything's working fine. Please, test better the new versions before launch!!!

Does any one know where I can find v3388 for Mac? I don't see it in Vienna Assistant or in my account downloads. I do see an earlier version in my account downloads, however.

I found the archive in Vienna Assistant

  • Hi everyone - we just released VE Pro 7.3.3499 and you can update through your Vienna Assistant app.

    Changelog:
    - Fixed macOS (Intel): Various third-party VST/VST3 plug-ins failed scanning
