  • VEP Performance Question in Cubase

I mostly write orchestral music, so i have a large template setup for that purpose.  However the project i'm currently working on is using a lot more synths and not very much orchestra.  I have a VST server plugin for each group of the orchestra, Strings, Winds, Brass, Perc etc.

If i want to save on CPU power and i'm not writing any brass parts (as an example), what's the best way to disable that VEP plugin?

Will disconnecting from the sever drop my CPU usage in Cubase?

    Any and all suggestions welcome.

  • If you disconnect the VE Pro Server from your DAW,  the audio engine is missing, and there fore, no processing inside VE Pro is happening - freeing up the CPU.

Is that on the Cubase (Mac) side, or on the server (PC) side.  I realize i forgot to mention i use a PC to run VEP Server on 10G Ethernet.  I'm looking to free up CPU on the Mac side.

  • Hi! All instruments loaded into a VE Pro Server utilize the Server's hardware. You might still see positive effects as a high number of connections from DAW to Server can also put a strain on your Mac - but that only to a limited, probably neglectable degree.
